Willows Place is an excellent choice for those wanting to enjoy a fun, family holiday in the popular seaside town of Whitby. This terraced house is located in a quiet area, yet just a short walk down to the centre of town where you'll find plenty of things to do. Famous for award-winning fish and chips, Whitby has so much more to offer including gastropubs, bistros, modern delicatessens and bakeries for the foodies. There is also a good selection of coffee shops, tea rooms, wine bars and traditional pubs with fine ales and live music, all offering a friendly welcome.
Whitby Abbey towers over the town and was made famous by Bram Stoker's novel, Dracula. Take a walk up the 199 steps for that picture perfect view, or enjoy amazing views from the West Cliff and the Whale Bones which have said to be protecting the town's fishermen for centuries. Whitby's East Cliff has cobbled back streets filled with independent traders offering goods from Gothic clothing to jet stone jewellery. There is a long expanse of golden sand that stretches back towards the popular resort of Sandsend, with the Cleveland Way running the length of the coast to Saltburn. Stretching along cliff tops it drops down into some of the Yorkshire Coastline's wonderful coves and bays such as Staithes and Runswick Bay. Whitby has many events and festivals all year round such as the famous Goth Weekend, Steampunk Weekends, Whitby Regatta and a Folk Week to name but a few.
You can take a boat trip out to sea in search of minke whales or for a spot of fishing, or catch a steam train inland into the heart of the North York Moors National Park which starts right on your doorstep. For those who enjoy a bit of exercise there is an 18-hole golf course in Whitby and many others within driving distance. There are plenty of walking and cycle routes in the area to enjoy. The traditional seaside town of Scarborough is just a drive down the coast with two long sandy bays, an indoor water park and Scarborough Open Air Theatre which attracts international bands every summer. There are quaint villages and market towns dotted across North Yorkshire as well as historic buildings, theme parks and the walled city of York all worth a visit. Beach ½ mile.
